Combustion chambers

Combustion is a chemical reaction that occurs between a fuel and an oxidizing agent, the oxygen. This reaction produces energy, usually in the form of heat and light.

The combustion chamber is the place where the fuel and oxygen are mixed to launch combustion. To ensure complete combustion of the fuel, and hence good efficiency, oxygen must always be provided in excess in the combustion chamber.
